In My Hear, Dear (Through the Wall)

If you leave, there's the door,
I don't want to talk about, this no more.
If you're gonna go then, walk away,
If you need to leave, baby, that's OK.

But if you leave me now, down those tracks,
Ain't no hard feelings, but don't come back.
I don't want no letters, telling me why,
Save the postage, baby, just, say goodbye.

Oh, but do you really care?
If I'm here or if I'm there?
Always so above the fray,
I think I'll be on my way.

Now that you done your thinkin', what's it gonna be,
Keep on walkin', or stay with me?
The time is passing, yes, the time has come,
Do what you must do, just, let it be done.

Oh, but do you really care?
If I'm here or if I'm there?
Always so above the fray,
I think I'll be on my way.

No, no, what I meant to say,
I really would rather stay.
Don't want to be alone,
baby, baby I'm coming home.

Am I happy, what did you say?
I'll keep you in my heart, dear, every day.

The Mad Trapper

He came up the Richardson River in the dead of winter, nobody know'd was he a saint or a sinner.
He stormed into that trading post with an anger all his own, ordered everything in sight, snatched it up and he was gone.
He put it all on his back, every pound every ounce, a load that a dozen men could hardly even count.
No one heard a word, no nothin' did he say, was it his strength or his silence that turned them away?

He's the mad trapper from Edmonton,
He's the mad trapper, what has he done?
He's the mad trapper from Edmonton,
He's the mad trapper, why does he run?

The Mounties were few then and their trappin' laws were new, tryin' to keep the peace in the winter of '32.
Royal Spike Millen was a cut above the rest, he saw the spirit in the man and law and he put both to the test.
Albert Johnson dug himself a hole, deep in the snow and deep in his soul.
Johnson got to firin' and he caught the Mountie on the arm, they went back to regroup and the great north chase was on.

Royal Spike Millen was loved by everyone,
he didn't need to chase him but that's what he done,
He thought he could reach him with his words and his calm,
he saw part of himself and he had to move on.
He's the mad trapper from Edmonton,
He's the mad trapper, quick with a gun?
He's the mad trapper from Edmonton,
He's the mad trapper, why does he run?

That winter was hideous and brutally cold, the winds blew fiendishly to 50 below.
The Mounties with their dogs and sleds chased him every day from dawn, Albert Johnson marched furiously on.
That fateful morning came, they tracked the slightest trace, Millen and Johnson came suddenly face to face.
They fixed their sights instantly beneath that feeble sun, the shots rang out and silence fell and both men were done.

Albert Johnson, or what was you name?
The mad trapper from Edmonton said you were insane.
Nothing on your person 'cept that picture of that girl?
He came and went without a word from that cold, cold frozen world.

He's the mad trapper from Edmonton,
He's the mad trapper, quick with a gun?
He's the mad trapper from Edmonton,
He's the mad trapper, why does he run?
Why does he run? Why does he run?

Night Birds

Tell me where you weep at night and I will weep there too,
Tell me where you laugh and sing and I will sing with you.
When the moon is riding high, high up overhead,
When the owl is flying near, remember what we said.

Tell me when the bird is singing, tell me when she runs,
Tell me when the world is laughing, laughing everyone.
Tell me when the sun is shining, shining so bright,
Tell me when the colors are dry, and everything is right.

Down into the valley low, where the rabbit sleeps,
Listen for the laughing sighs, where the waters meet.
When my love for you awakes, flowers all will bloom,
And, when your love for me escapes, then will come the June.

Tell me when the bird is singing, tell me when she runs,
Tell me when the world is laughing, laughing everyone.
Tell me when the music’s playing, playing every day,
Tell me when the hunger’s over and war’s gone away.

And if you see a shooting star, across the black night sky,
You will know that I am there, walking by your side.
Look for me in the western sky, where the bluebird soars,
Mountain, snow, and thunderclouds, I am truly yours.

Tell me when the bird is singing, tell me when she runs,
Tell me when the world is laughing, laughing everyone.
Let me hear your melody baby, lightin’ up the way,
Let me see you smiling happy, you’ll make the day.
Tell me when the music’s playing, playing every day,
Tell me when the hunger’s over and war’s gone away.

Put your mind in overdrive,
anxieties to maximize,
you know you’ve got it when you feel that zing

Nothing to Fear

When you told me that you, wouldn’t run with me, but that you might wander, if I, moved upon the glass, and I said,
if you think about it, it’s quite natural, to consider facts and figurines, and to look for the shining shades of meaning

And we were, walkin’ in peace, we were walking in love, and we were singing this song to the stars above for the stars above

And you said, where you gonna run to and, where you gonna hide, if you’ve got love for yourself, then you’ve got, love inside, but don’t be confused, and do be belied by the, prince of pride, who is also walking astride and combing your mind for just about
anything to hold you in his hand and laugh as you turn round.

And we had nothing to fear and, nothing to hide as we were turning our backs on the prince of pride, yeah we had nothing to fear and, nothing to hide as we were turning our backs on the prince of pride, ‘cause we got

Nothing left to fear, Nothing left to fear, Nothing left to fear, left to fear, We got nothing left to fear

So, don’t let the time buzz by, when it seems the world is rushing by, when there’s so much beauty and reason to stand, yeah we've got the wind in the hills and the sun in our dreams and we are open for love and all that it means

And we are walking in peace, we are walking in love, and we are singing our songs for the stars above, yeah we are
Walking in peace, we are walking in love, and we are singing our songs for the stars above, yeah we are
Walking in peace, we are walking in love, and we are singing our songs for the stars above

Juanita

Juanita sees the sunrise, you know she sees the morning light,
She's gonna get the time that's coming, find out what is right.
She knows that it's a hard road, she knows it will not end,
She keeps herself just walkin', walkin' to the bend,

When she gets home late each day, the children come and run,
Sayin' momma what's for dinner, hungry everyone.
She don't know what to say, she don't know what to do,
Her hands just start to moving till everything is through.

Oh Juanita, Juanita you'll get by,
Oh Juanita, Juanita don't you cry,
Oh Juanita, Juanita you'll get by.

When Juanita's on the job, she don't say much to the boss,
There's only that slim paycheck, keepin' her from total loss.
She know's her life is workin', workin' every day,
and though you won't hear her complainin', for a decent wage she prays.

And at times she starts to wonder, how long that she can go,
before she's gonna stumble, maybe leave them without a home
But she's not giving in, no she knows what is right,
for her future and her children, Juanita's gonna fight.

Oh Juanita, Juanita's got the fight, Oh Juanita, fight for what is right,
Oh Juanita, Juanita's got the fight.

But in the dark of the night she worries, in the dark of the night she sighs,
in the dark of the night she gathers up her strength and then she'll rise,
she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise.

Now Juanita's organizing, it's the only way she'll stay,
Mujeres con mujeres making their own way,
For a living wage and then some, for the dignity of a raise,
Juanita's on the picket line, standing in her place.

Oh Juanita, Juanita's standing tall,
Oh Juanita, Juanita she won't fall,
Oh Juanita, Juanita's standing tall.

But in the dark of the night she still worries, in the dark of the night she still sighs,
in the dark of the night she still gathers up her strength and then she'll rise,
she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise,
she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise, she'll rise.

A Place

There’s a place for the laughter, there’s a place for the tears,
There’s a place for the thing inside that everybody fears.
A place in the evening, in the dark of the night,
There’s a place in the daybreak that brings back the light.

In the silence of every space, there's a place.

There’s a place by the highway, right next to the road,
There’s a place right between us that nobody knows.
A place in the flatlands, and way up in the hills,
There’s a place in the city with its corrugated thrills.

In the beauty of every face, there's a place.

A place for the questions that come out at night,
A place for the answers that don’t seem quite right,
A place for the meaning, for the fragileness of truth,
A place for more questions, and nothing to refute.

In the light of your embrace, there’s a place.

There’s a place for the journey, for the solitary trip,
There’s a place for the party that everybody missed.
A place for the ego, and one for the id,
There’s a place to love memories of everything you did.

In the madness of this race, there's a place.

There’s a place to make whiskey, there’s no place to make war,
There’s a place for the high road, and a place for the cure.
A place for the losers, longing for the win,
There’s a place for the ending, returning to begin.

In the silence of every space, there's a place.
In the beauty of every face, there’s a place
In the light of your embrace, there’s a place.
There’s a place, there’s a place.

Been Told (Brother Man)

Brother man had seen his share of, things that come and go,
Brother man would tell his tales, sit back in the fire’s glow,
Brother man he’d come down to see me, come down that road,
Brother man he’d come down and find me, and this is what he told, he said,

If you think you love that girl then you better treat her right,
If you’re gonna be with her then you better go tonight, you better go, tonight.
Brother man he came to show me, where I belong,
Brother man his words released me, freed me with his song.

Brother man had a story, one for every day,
Brother man had tales of glory but this is what he said, he said

If you really love that girl then you better let her know,
Ain’t no use in lovin’ if nobody ain’t been told,
Yeah if you really love that girl then you better let her know,
Ain’t no use in lovin’ if nobody ain’t been told, this, this I know.

Brother man came down to see me, came down the road,
Brother man he came down to teach me, everything he know’d.
Brother man had a story, one for every day,
Brother man had tales of glory but this is what he say

If you really love that girl then you better let her know,
Ain’t no use in lovin’ if nobody ain’t been told,

Brother man he came to show me, right where I belong,
Brother man his words released me, freed me with his song.
